Art is useless

Art is completely and utterly useless. Really. sure it might be nice to look at, but does it really do anything??? In the movie 2012 they save the Mona Lisa from destruction, but why???? Because its old??? Becuase its pretty??? Art serves no other purpose other then to be saved, protected, and admired from a distance. Aka: its useless.

I see your point, however I feel compelled to adamantly disagree. I definitely know what you're saying--especially in the movie 2012. It was like they valued artwork more than they valued humanity, which is just.....ridiculous, to say the least. But, I think art serves a very important role in humanity. It allows us to express our emotions--whether they be specific, or broad....it teaches us to feel more deeply.

I'm a Christian, and so everything I do is an expression of my passion for Christ. Granted, sometimes I may not feel that while I'm doing it, but when I feel most fulfilled and like it actually means something is when I do it as an offering of time and hard work for Him. And as miniscule of an offering as that may sound in comparison to all of the things He's done for me, it's just one part of my life that I can offer up to Him along with the rest. :)

Thanks for the thought provoking post. You have a very interesting blog here.
Have a great weekend!

First of all in the movie 2012, they were saving the history and the legacy of humanity, what if some of the human race didn't survive? What if beings from outer space came across a barren planet, with no signs of life or any civilization?

Secondly, I am an artist myself and art does have lots of aplications, movie concepts, comic books etc. And I even have a blog about my art, and the project that i am now working on with my best friend.
